He makes stuff up.

As we were driving over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge a few Tuesdays ago, I commented to John that there were many boats out on the water. "Of course," he replied, "It's the middle of the week."

"It's Tuesday," I reminded him, "And it's no closer to the middle of the week than Thursday, which was the last day we crossed this bridge... and saw far less boat traffic."

He quickly recovered, "It's the middle of the shipping week. Obviously, you know nothing about nautics."
